Chapter 9 Part 2: *Joes POV* Kim stopped at Julie's door. "Uh, is anyone hungry? I'm going to the vending machine." After asking, she took off down the hall. Kim had been avoiding going into Julie's room since we got to the hospital. I figured it had something to do with her thinking the accident was her fault. I told Nick and Kevin I'd be right back. I followed Kim around a few corners until she stopped in a small, empty waiting room. She finally broke down. She started crying with her back against the wall. I had never seen her like this before. She didn't get shaken too easily. She started to slide to the floor when I put my arms around her and stood her up. "Come here" I said as I pulled her closer to me. "Joe?" She started to wipe the tears from her eyes and tried to stop crying. I looked at her. "No you dont." I brushed some hair out of her face. "You have been bottling everything up since we got here, and it's not doing you any good." She kind of laughed. "That's what Julie would say." "Well Julie's right. You're like a bottle of soda in a freezer." She looked at me puzzled. "I'm sorry, a what?" "A bottle of soda in a freezer. If you leave it in there too long, it explodes." "Oh..." "Sorry, it was a sad attempt to make you feel better." I smiled at her, hoping to hear one of her usual smart-aleck remarks that she always had, but there was nothing. Instead, she hugged me tightly.
